Toshiba plans to drop HD-DVD

Toshiba has decided to drop next generation high-definition DVD production. As we all know, that its been defeated by Blue-Ray technology that is developed by Sonny, Matsushita and Sharp.

Its been said, that the reason of withdraw was the Wall-Mart’s decision to choise Blue-Ray. Not only Wall-Mart by itself of course, Sonny also has been supported by Best-Buy and American film studios in the market, which has been made the hand of Blue-Ray very strong previously.

The official announcement of company is; We will continue to sell HD-DVD products for a while but will stop further development of HD DVD.

According to Market observers the lose of Toshiba is hundreds of millions of US dollars.
