Generate Traffic with Yahoo Answers and Social Sites
If you are struggling to find a way of publicizing your blog or website because you simply do not want to spend money on advertising, or don’t have any you could spend, then why not try some free and easy ways that will get targeted visitors to your website.
One method of getting well targeted and recurring traffic is to use a site such as Yahoo Answers, or Wiki Answers. People regularly ask all kinds of questions on there, so search for a question that is related to your particular niche (the topic you write on) and see whether you can help to answer their question and link to your blog, where they could find more information or related material. People will appreciate you being able to help them and see you as being knowledgeable in the field, so they are more likely to visit your particular page (note that the links you post are no follow so it is purely for traffic).
Yahoo and Wiki Answers can be very useful to use in this way, and yet are often overlooked. If you are finding it hard to get a lot of people on your site then this is one of the best ways to get some traffic but not have to pay for it. Other methods include using sites such as stumbleupon and digg, but that comes under social bookmarking.
Social bookmarking sites such as digg and stumbleupon can bring highly target traffic as well as help you quickly map new pages by submitting them. Usually social bookmarking sites are no follow but you could probably find many not so popular social bookmarking sites that are do follow. These can bring very target traffic but tend to do it in one blast due to the way new submissions work.
When you submit a new entry it goes into the latest diggs section which is viewed by a few probably hundreds or thousands people. These people, if interested will dig your post or stumble it, pass it on to friends and hopefully they in turn will do the same. By getting more diggs your site will stay in the latest’s/hottest new submissions section longer bringing more traffic.
Both of these methods tend to be no follow and are purely for traffic but you could find the traffic you receive is well worth the small amount of time you spend.
