The first step towards marketing your internet services is to set up a website of your own. Whether you are going to make profit out of your website or not completely depend on your ability to define its goals.

If you are not sure about your expectations from your website, it will be equally hard for the later to achieve the desired results. Without perfect goals, your side would only serve the purpose of declaring to the world that you exist in the web world. But if you want to make your presence felt in the web world, there are various ways to do so.

The first and foremost method would be to evaluate the performance of your website. A massive amount of clicks do not necessarily mean that your website is tremendously successful. If you really want that your website would invigorate the visitors to perform some action, you must not indulge in any sort of unusual promotional activities. Site traffic would only be considered successful when the people would actually show huge interest in your products or services. At the same time, you must also make a note of visitors who actually purchased your products or showed sincere interest. This process is known by the name of site conversion and actually sums up the fact as to how well your website is performing.

In order to find out the rate of site conversion you can actually calculate the percentage of visitors who have expressed sincere interest in the products that you have put on offer. To make the calculation even simpler, you can just divide the number of visitors to your site with that of those who actually purchased some or the other product. Then just multiply the figure with 100 to get the resultant conversion rate.

To make your website hog the topmost position in the popular search engines, you can very well employ an SEO company to maintain your website site from time to time at a nominal price. However, you can do that yourself by carrying out a thorough research on the popular search engine optimization methods.

If your website is not user-friendly you might have a tough time getting visitors to your site. While advertising products on your site make sure that forms and all other stuffs are easily accessible to the customers. Last but not the least, hire a professional to thoroughly evaluate your site. The website copy that you would prepare should be specifically geared up to make the most of your online campaign. Always remember, the right copy can make your website reach out to million and if it happens otherwise, you are well-aware of the consequences.

Nowadays, web design has became to be a huge field where there are different opportunities for art-designers, programmers, SEM and SEO companies…

I recently came across an article over wpcandy that is entitled as SEO for WordPress. I had some question marks when I read the following state on that article.

Some background information: Google gives less weightage to links that appear site-wide, and also links which are separated from the bulk of content. However, the links still pass on invaluable link juice to other pages.

It was containing an interesting question for me. Do site wide links hurt?

I straight away forwarded this question to Brent who founded the SEO Company Agilis Marketing and successfully assisted many companies achieve top search results on the other major search engines.

There is a huge list of things that you can do with .htaccess file like protecting folders with a password, redirecting your visitors, custom error messages, banning certain IP address or only allowing users with certain IP address, to stop directory listing, etc… In this article I am going to explain how to create your own custom error pages instead of using your host’s error pages or having no page.

Custom error pages
The 404 error message is an HTTP response indicates that the server couldn’t find what the client requested. You may want to redirect your visitors to error message that you created. This can be done by adding the line below into your .htacess file.

ErrorDocument 404 http://www.yourdomain.com/error.htm

You can also add extra lines for errors 401, 403 or 500 and refer them to different error pages that you created.
